fashion retailer is trying to change that. Bryan’s Bride, which opened in Burnaby’s
Brentwood Town Centre in March 2004, has paved the way for a new kind of gown shopping,
the kind where you walk in without an appointment, find your dress and walk out with it the same day.
At first look, you notice an open, urban design. Comfy armchairs for friends and family, a podium for the bride to model her dress, mirrored walls, stage lighting and attentive staff on hand. Where it differs is in the store’s modus operandi.
Bryan’s Bride will stock at least four sizes in each style offered. With 17 fitting rooms and sizes ranging from two through 30, Bryan’s gowns are priced between $500 and $1,500. Unlike the majority of bridal boutiques, this one is open seven days a week, all year round. Its collections include Venus Bridal, Impression Bridal, Morgan & Co., Mori
Lee and Bryan’s Bride’s own private label. The store is hoping to attract
brides seeking instant gratification when it comes to their chosen dress.
No waiting for delivery—and no last-minute crises, though customers can
request that the store keep their gown safe until they require it.
An offshoot of women’s wear retailer Bryan’s, with 34 stores across Western Canada, Bryan’s Bride has a 9,000-square-foot facility in Brentwood Town Centre, housing "the largest collection of ready-to-wear bridal gowns in Canada," according to Yale Rosner, company spokesperson. "This unique concept store is the first of its kind in Canada, and is pointing the way toward revolutionizing the bridal retail industry," says Rosner.
