When bride Jen Tam of Her Waise Choice asked me to work with her bridesmaids to style her bridal shower, I knew I could create something that celebrated not only her upcoming July wedding, but also an event that reflected her personal aesthetic: bright, simple and classic.

Throwing a wedding shower is such an exciting occasion for celebration, and this light, fresh and seasonal wedding shower was pulled together with a few key items in mind.

When styling an event, I always like to create a focal point, and it usually means a luxurious food table since it’s where everyone generally mingles. Using white paper florals in different styles from Mur de Fleurs as a backdrop, the texture added a dynamic touch to the focal area. From there, I stuck to a theme of white and fresh greenery, mirroring it into the fresh florals from Blossom & Vine and the sweets from Sweet Bake Shop. Both were classic in style and very much reflected the bride’s personal taste.

Other details of the shower included pretty cake plates in various sizes to display the food and sweets; the different heights added dimension to the table, and floral Archimallows marshmallows kept to the theme. Grouping the sweets and the savouries together gave a visual experience to each section of the table.

Another important element I always consider is a location that the guest of honour can take photos with her guests, so I created a separate area next to the window with white balloons and paper flowers. This created a dedicated spot for photos with friends and family for a cohesive album.

The décor and the design of the shower created a beautiful setting for the bride to enjoy an afternoon in anticipation of her upcoming big day.
