Talented guests and tender moments highlight Lisa and Todd's wedding at the Secret Garden at Woodbridge Ponds

"Todd and Lisa were not high school sweethearts, but they did meet in high school and embarked on a romance at their 10 year reunion! This led to a three-year courtship and surprise proposal, where Lisa happily said yes to spending a lifetime with her now 'sweetheart' from high school... and to a beautiful, unique emerald ring. The emerald stone holds special meaning from her maternal grandmother and is the birthstone of Todd. It was the moment they picked a coloured stone, the couple knew they would not want an entirely traditional wedding."

“The day we found our location—Secret Garden at Woodbridge Ponds—I knew everything else would easily fall into place. The venue felt completely like 'us' and we let that feeling guide us, highlighting it throughout our special day,” says Lisa.

“There was no specific theme but rather feelings of nature and romance, with shades of white paired with many shades of green and a conscious focus to highlight our love and celebrate it with our closest family and friends. Not having a wedding party, keeping the guests to an intimate 100, and utilizing the many special talents of our loved ones made this day come together like we never imagined!” explains Lisa.

"A lush property of beautiful gardens, ponds and water features, along with live plants inside the tent and a backdrop of Chilliwack-area mountains was almost all the decor needed! Lisa's uncle created custom stationery for seating arrangements and signage, while Lisa’s mom and family friend lovingly put together the venue and ceremony flowers. The bridal bouquet and boutonnière were created by local florist, Floralista. Lisa handmade thank you cards with a custom stamp and a scratch ticket, a favourite tradition between her and her grandfather. A longtime family friend of Lisa's—and one of Todd's childhood teachers—officiated the wedding. Music performed during the ceremony and as the first dance was performed by talented family friends of Lisa's, while guests danced the night away to a soundtrack DJ’d by a longtime family friend of Todd’s."

Guests dined family-style on farm-to-table cuisine by Restaurant 62, with dessert selections including mini-donuts in lieu of cake, as they are a local favourite of the bride and groom, as well as a treat they seek out while traveling.

All of this was captured in what the bride describes as “soft, muted romance” typical of the unique style of Teryn Lee Photography. These memories—most of which are candid, and just between each other or shared with close family and friends—are treasures that the bride and groom now have to remember all of what the day represented to them.

“It is because of Teryn’s unique ability to capture not just moments, but mood and feeling that there are no regrets about opting out of videography,” says Lisa.
