Hasti Maloufi, owner and lead planner of La Vista events describes how she embraced the natural environment to create a West Coast garden fairy-tale wedding

"From the beginning, the bride knew what she wanted for her dream wedding, and with design and planning support from La Vista Events, the romantic vision was brought to life. On the wedding day, the couple and their wedding party were able to relax and take in every moment while the team of vendors worked eagerly to execute every personalized detail. All the special moments throughout the day were captured candidly by Taryn Baxter Photographer.

"When selecting a wedding venue, it always makes a world of difference when the venue is aligned with the theme. VanDusen Botanical Garden was the perfect backdrop to showcase Vancouver's West-Coast style with features of large plant collections and lush greenery.

"In typical Vancouver fashion, the clouds parted just in time to make the decision about the ceremony location to remain outdoors. Beautiful wooden cross-back chairs from The Little Wedding Shoppe were the only decor item needed for the outdoor ceremony in front of a grand weeping willow tree situated perfectly in front of the lake. The chairs were set up in a meticulously curved design in order to make the ceremony feel more inclusive and welcoming for the guests.

"Custom-made programs, sourced via Minted, doubled as fans for guests during the short and sweet ceremony. Elise and Austin shared personalized vows during a lovely ceremony with their wedding party by their sides. The ceremony was officiated with love by the bride's aunt, making it that much more special and personalized.

"Following the ceremony, guests were encouraged to explore the beautiful garden and take photos. Truffles Fine Foods Catering served cocktails and canapes that were enjoyed outside the reception hall. High-top tables were dressed with soft grey linen that danced when the wind blew, and the tabletops were decorated with beautiful floral arrangements and gold mercury votives. The seating chart was beautifully personalized and hand-written in alphabetical order.

"Once the ceremony chairs were transferred over to the reception hall, the curtains were raised and doors opened. Guests were greeted with a champagne toast as they were welcomed inside to find their seats.

"The reception hall was transformed from plain to pretty thanks to the decor and florals by Niche Event Stylists. The walls of the hall were hidden by sheer, romantic fabric and the head table wall was adorned with hanging greenery and twinkling lights. Luscious, low floral centerpieces decorated each table adding soft, romantic pops of color and greenery. Even the venue’s pillars around the dance floor were wrapped in greenery and floralsnot a detail was missed. And once the sun set, candles twinkled around the centerpieces, adding a special glimmer of romance.

"Instead of a traditional guestbook, the couple opted for a Polaroid guestbook where guests took candid photos and placed the photo in the book and wrote a special message. By the end of the night, the book was filled with many special memories for the couple to read and laugh at later."
