A team of Island vendors collaborate on a luxurious, British Colonial shoot at the Fairmont Empress

Inspired by rich textures and showcasing British-Indian flare, a team of Vancouver Island creatives came together to produce this luxurious shoot at the Fairmont Empress’ newly renovated Bengal Lounge. The room’s dark mahogany beams and unique lighting fixtures offered the perfect backdrop for a floral-infused feature. Knowing the floral installations would guide the shoot’s overall look, planner and designer Emma McCormick teamed up with Dragonflight Photography’s Ashley Ferreria to source opulent accent pieces, including the tablescape’s gold palm chargers, lush velvet royal blue linens from Faire La Fate and depression glassware from Trend Décor.

The extensive stationary suite, designed by Emma Allen, connected to the shoot’s vignettes with lush gold foil and the bright emerald greens pulled from the Bengal Room’s traditional mosaic-style, tiled fireplace. From the bar cart laced with individually strung, white orchids to the tabletop’s metallic lanterns dripping in bright florals to the bride’s luxurious lip colour, this shoot is sure to inspire real couples. Creativity in wedding design can truly embrace a venue’s history while still celebrating both individual personalities and modern taste.
