We've got expert advice on how to tell your love story through your vows
“Every couple’s love story is different,” says Shawn Miller, founder and owner of Young, Hip & Married. The ceremony is often the only time couples really get to tell their guests about their relationship. An officiant can help you avoid clichés, and instead articulate the deeply personal story of how you fell in love. Miller advises starting with your end goal. Do you want your guests to laugh or cry? Do you want to share something that you’ve accomplished together? Do you want a ceremony that’s romantic and traditional, or light-hearted and authentic? If you know what you want to accomplish, figuring out how to tell your story to elicit those responses is much easier. Working with a storyteller will help eliminate any nerves for your ceremony, says Miller. Instead you know you’ll be telling a tale that you can cherish for years to come.
