Social media is inevitably going to play a part in documenting your wedding. Here's how to keep it appropriate on your big day

“Social media is meant to add to the fun, not become added work,” says Erin Bishop, principal planner at Filosophi Events. “Choose whatever platform you use and love in your everyday life,” she says. “You don't need to figure out Snapchat for your big day if you only ever use Instagram.” But remember not to let your smartphone monopolize your time on the big day. Instead, maximize it by sharing a few natural photos early and tasking a social media savvy bridesmaid or groomsmen—and your planner—to snap some shots throughout the day, suggests Bishop. And definitely create a custom hashtag; it makes it easy for guests to interact with one another online and really share in all the special moments and perspectives of your day.
