Jordan and Kyle find organic inspiration on Granville Island

"Before I got engagedas a part-time wedding plannerI was constantly picking up ideas and planning the perfect wedding in my head. It wasn't until we got engaged (under the lights at Enchant Vancouver) that I realized how much pressure I would feel to plan the perfect wedding... especially on a budget. Luckily, Kyle is my right-hand man when it comes to wedding planning and is always there with me to assist on the day-of wedding executions. Because of that, we had a lot of wedding experience together, and knew a bit of what to expect. Our first step in the planning process was to sit down and decide together what the priorities for our wedding were. We decided to focus on three things: our favourite people, an epic party, and our love and marriage. Since Kyle had a lot of family coming from out of town, we wanted a venue that was central and showed off beautiful Vancouver. We had planned weddings at Performance Works, and had also attended weddings at the venue and knew immediately that it would be perfect for us. It had a beautiful outdoor space, Ron Basford Park for the ceremony, andinsidePerformance Works is a blank canvas to create whatever look we wanted. We loved the flexibility and the freedom to bring in all of the vendors we love."

"Our wedding theme was 'organic and romantic', and doing all of the planning for myself, while a bit stressful at times, was actually a lot of fun! We wanted every piece of decor, every vendor and every guest to hold special meaning for us. The theme was woven throughout the wedding from the outdoor ceremony site and the rose quartz candle holders that I collected for months before the wedding (Rose quartz is the crystal most closely connected to the heart) to the marble-themed stationery and place cards, agate table numbers, organic table wine and beautiful florals and greens created by Floralista. Dragonfly supplied the amazing lighting and backdrop that lit and warmed the room, as well as the linens, gold candlesticks and table numbers. Some of the other personal touches included the marble tiles used for place cards that were handwritten by the mother of the bride, the cake baked and decorated with gold foil by the mother of the bride, the gold geometric shapes handmade by myself and my maid of honour, the crystals on the head table that all had special significance, and the stationery which was designed by a dear friend. The room felt warm, peaceful and full of love."

"We had the most magical and perfect day that we ever could have asked for. The weather was iffy leading up to the Saturday, but besides a light sprinkle during our vows (for good luck!), we had a beautiful fall day, which also made for some really great photos around Granville Island. We were surrounded by so much love and support as we read our vows aloud in front of all of our closest family and friends. Our reception started immediately following the ceremony inside of Performance Works with a cocktail hour while we took some family photos. We were able to join in at the tail end of cocktail hour before our three-course plated meal was served, with speeches throughout. After dinner and speeches, we cut the cake, and danced the night away with all of our 'people' and had the best night ever. The day was totally 'us' and was truly the happiest of our lives (to date!)"
