Simple and sophisticated are focal points for this styled shoot

This creative shoot is inspired by adventurous brides interested in exploring upcoming trends. Gathering some of the finest talent on the West Coast, we put together a look that is timeless and cohesive by working from a minimalist base. This allowed each trend to shine in its own right, without overpowering the overall design.

From the neutral base, we built a palette that highlights two of this year's upcoming colors, ochre and burgundy. Using colour in simple touches, like in florals, stationery and accessories, we were able to maintain a flow of simplicity throughout the entire scene. The table reveals more trends with natural linen tablecloths, mix and match metallic accents, and statement place settings. With brides focusing on shared platters and delicious appetizers, a cheese plate is a great way of offering "build your own" snacks to guests.

Hanging flower arrangements are becoming more and more popular, but these beautiful floral clouds are a particularly unique way to incorporate levels into your wedding venue. Using locally foraged plants and seasonal blooms, eco-conscious brides can further consider the environment around them.

For wedding dresses, trends are moving towards comfort, simplicity and the opportunity to wear a number of styles throughout the day. We are seeing long statement trains for the ceremony, and playful pants or simple skirts at the reception to make dancing (and eating) easy. The "naked" wedding dress, with no adornments or lace, appeals to the fashion-forward bride inspired by the recent royal wedding.

Simple updates to hair and makeup throughout the day can also help transition a bride from ceremony to reception. Focusing on one feature to highlight (whether it's a bold lip or a 1960s cat eye) is a great way to give a nod to a trend... without letting it totally take over. Velvet accessories, for example, showcase a popular material in a subtle but luxurious way. Even the rings incorporate the mixed metals trend, with a band of silver and gold.

The style of photography focuses on capturing candid moments in natural light, with a sense of space and movement.
