When Arezo and Babak got engaged in Hawaii in 2015, they didn’t immediately start planning a wedding. Instead they enjoyed their time together. By January, they started throwing around some ideas and dates, but nothing stuck. “We didn’t want to become one of those stressed couples spending a year of our lives planning for one night,” say the couple.

In February, the couple rediscovered an old favourite for brunch: Provence Marinaside. They returned for champagne that same night to discuss their plans and settled on a wedding date in May to commemorate their first date.

With just four months to plan their 100-person wedding, Arezo and Babak opted to keep things simple. Their vision was a romantic and contemporary wedding that featured magnificent views, tasteful interiors and delicious food.

Arezo got a custom gown from The Bridal Gallery, with lace sleeves inspired by Kate Middleton. Babak wore a dapper midnight blue suit from Hugo Boss.

For the ceremony, the couple hosted their family at their False Creek apartment. A beautiful spread for the traditional Persian “sofreh aghd” included a sprinkling of sugar on the couple to shower them with symbolic sweetness, eggs, pomegranates and other details.

Provence Marinaside served up French food and doubled as a dance hall late into the night.

Advice from Arezo and Babak:

“During all the chaos, remember each other and what the whole day is about; the union of two people madly in love.”
