Erica Mueller and Randy Didmon couldn’t have asked for a more perfect fall day to say “I do.” Under a clear blue sky and surrounded by a background of glowing fall colours, the couple exchanged vows on a pier overlooking the Fraser River.
Their wedding party was small and intimate, with the bride’s brother acting as her Man of Honour. “I wouldn’t have wanted anyone else standing right next to me when I got married,” says Erica.
The reception was held kitty corner to the pier in Pitt Meadows at the South Bonson Community Centre. The chic new modern hall didn’t require much decoration, but Making Memories Bridal Services added the finishing touches to create a classic, elegant décor theme, including two-tier champagne-flute centrepieces with floating gerbera daisies and candles set atop mirrors.
The bride and groom also added their own special personal touches. Randy, a Vancouver Canucks fan and a goalie himself, created the head-table seating chart situated inside a goalie net, as well as individually numbered hockey jerseys containing all the guest names and their corresponding tables. And being fans of Mad Libs, the couple created their own “Guest Libs: Wedding Addition” for each guest to offer wedding advice to the newly weds.
After a buffet-style meal provided by Country Catering came an array of heartfelt and tearful speeches from the wedding party and family. One memorable moment in particular was a song performed for the couple by the bride’s grandfather, a family wedding tradition. DJ Toni, Erica’s uncle, then fired up the music and everyone hit the dance floor. “All we ever wanted for our wedding was an abundance of great-tasting food, a dance party, and a night to celebrate with close friends and family,” say the bride and groom.
The couple also gives full marks to Love is in the Lens Photography: “Our photographers were simply incredible, capturing the emotional essence of our day and providing us with an array of breathtaking photos. They really went above and beyond.”
