When Emmy Roux and Rodolphe Sans planned their wedding, the comfort and enjoyment of their guests was their top priority. To keep the day as stress-free as possible, they booked one venue — Furry Creek Golf & Country Club in Britannia Beach — for both their ceremony and reception. Emmy and Rodolphe even arranged for all their guests to arrive by rented school bus to ensure no one would need to worry about driving.
On the morning of the wedding, the bridal party got ready at the venue, while Emmy checked on the reception details. The couple had chosen warm vintage gold tones and simple arrangements to complement the natural beauty of Furry Creek, while adding splashes of colour using peacock feathers, their running theme. DIY bride Emmy had also made her own and her bridesmaids’ jewellery, the wedding cake and the favours, so she had plenty of details to check!
The ceremony, held in perfect weather high up on a private green on the mountainside, was in English and French (for guests on the French-born groom’s side), with Rodolphe’s brother translating and a close friend of the couple officiating. Following the ceremony, the wedding party took advantage of the spectacular surroundings for their photos, whizzing around the golf course in their own cart.
The reception followed, with plenty of food and heartfelt speeches. Rodolphe had even prepared a surprise slide show for his new bride. The newlyweds danced their way up to the cake cutting and then onto the dance floor. “Everyone was in great spirits and enjoyed their night,” recalls Emmy. “We had three bus shuttles in the evening to take people back to the hotel . . . and the last one was the busiest!” Photographer: LS Photography | DJ: Silver Disc Music | Venue & Catering: Furry Creek Golf & Country Club | Bride’s Dress: Oleg Cassini | Bridesmaid Dresses: Dessy, from Frocks Modern Bridesmaid | Hair & Makeup: Beauty Calls | Groom’s & Groomsmen’s Outfits: Vera Wang, from Moores Clothing for Men | Stationery: Made by bride | Flowers: Flower-z | Cake: Made by bride | Jewellery: Made by bride
