Vancouver’s Jeanie and Scott McLean were married on an unusually sunny and warm May day in Kelowna, where Scott was raised.
Benvoulin, the small heritage church where the ceremony was held, was the perfect size for the 90 friends and family who had gathered for the big day. Following the ceremony, photos were taken at various locations around Kelowna, made more special by the fact that the photographer happened to be Scott’s brother-in-law.
The reception then took place at the Hotel Eldorado, overlooking the lake. Jeanie and the families had all worked hard, putting together a number of beautiful and rustic decorations in the months leading up to the wedding. Jeanie and Scott recall that their grand entrance made them feel like rock stars, and they’ll never forget how amazing it felt to soak in all the energy from the guests as they rose to their feet and beamed at them.
As some friends and family were unable to attend their Kelowna wedding, a short compilation of video messages was shown, followed by videos from both sets of parents. Jeanie’s parents shot their video in her native tongue of Korean and added English subtitles. While their message brought tears to everyone's eyes, the video by the groom’s parents added comic relief. The videos concluded with a home video of a four-year-old Scott singing “Kokomo.” Then a night of dancing began, to the tune of “Kokomo” (of course), and the celebrations carried on with a candy bar and white wall photos (a photo station where the wedding photographer took photos of guests).
At the end of the night, guests formed farewell arches as Jeanie and Scott said their good-byes and headed up to the honeymoon suite full of warm memories.
