On a beautiful late June day, Marli Anderson and Andrew Budreski married at the Adventure Ranch in Pemberton, surrounded by friends and family from both B.C. and Nova Scotia. Wanting to shake up the traditional wedding timeline, the couple threw a cocktail reception and dinner before the ceremony, giving them the opportunity to spend extra time with their guests as they explored the ranch, snacked on oysters brought in from the East Coast and enjoyed live music by their friends Jenny McCormack and Nathan Mendes.

Once all the guests had gathered in the tent, Marli’s brother Mitch and lifetime friend Blake introduced the wedding party and MC. Then it was dinnertime – a sumptuous meal of heirloom tomato salad, whole spit-roasted pig and grilled halibut provided by Railtown Catering. As dinner wrapped up, Mitch and Blake surprised the couple with a rendition of the “Galaxy Song” from Monty Python that had been reworded for the wedding, complete with cameo solos from friends and family – culminating in a grand finale that had the whole audience singing, all topped off with a confetti cannon.

Then it was off to the arbour to conduct the ceremony as the sun set behind Mount Currie. Guests seated themselves on makeshift benches of hay and as Marli made her approach, a ranch cowgirl released horses into the field behind, so they would gallop and prance as she walked the final end of the aisle.

After their sweet “I do’s,” the couple made their exit through a sea of smiling and bubble-blowing guests. Before the party kicked off, Marli and Andrew enjoyed their first dance on the ranch’s pool deck as their guests surrounded them with sparklers.

Party time followed and lasted late into the night with a slow-mo photobooth, DJ dance party, bonfire and a full bar featuring signature cocktails and shot-skis keeping guests well entertained. But the fun didn’t end there – the next day continued the celebrations with a pool party and a special surprise from Marli’s parents: a helicopter tour over the Coast Mountains.

“It was truly the type of fairy tale wedding that seemed too good to be true,” says Marli.
