More than a joining of two people, Brianne Elcock and Rushad Hodiwala’s springtime wedding united two cultures through a full week of celebrations. On May 23, the Langley couple held a Zoroastrian ceremony at the Vancouver Golf Club, where they were surrounded by family on two stages and blessed by two priests. Brianne says it was a very special day for her, being accepted into another culture. Plus, how many lucky brides get to wear two entirely different outfits at two completely different weddings? Two days later, for the couple’s traditional ceremony, Brianne stepped into the wedding gown she had been dreaming of wearing since she was a little girl. While the ceremony was all about soft pastels and white orchids, the ballroom at the Renaissance Harbourside Vancouver came alive for the reception with vibrant colours and an extravaganza of blooms. “The day was magical,” says Brianne, “and I will never forget it.
