When Americans Cara and Randall Rosa recently moved to Vancouver, it was important to the couple to make their wedding all about their new home. Most of the day took place at the historic Rosewood Hotel Georgia, close to their downtown apartment. At the hotel lobby lounge, the pair’s favourite place for vintage cocktails, Randall gave Cara her “engagement” ring on their wedding day. Although he had picked out a symbolic ring as an engagement gift, the couple designed the actual wedding set together with Randall working out the final details on his own, so he could make the presentation a wedding-day surprise. The celebrations began with a cocktail reception in the hotel’s penthouse suite, featuring Cara and Randall’s signature cocktails. The ceremony then took place on the upper balcony of the suite, where an intimate group of family, long-time family friends and new Vancouver friends gathered to witness the couple exchanging vows they had written themselves. The celebrations carried over to the private venue inside Yaletown’s Blue Water Café for an amazing meal, followed by mini cakes for each guest. “With our food-centred backgrounds, our new home, and our wish for a simple but elegant occasion, an intimate dinner party with family, friends and lots of personal touches wasexactly what we wanted for our special day,” says Cara.
