One of the best perks of working at Real Weddings is the chance to try out new beauty products – and hopefully discovering a new must-have once in awhile. Here are just a few of the hair, skincare and beauty items we’ve tested lately that we think are worth trying out for yourself.

1. Big Hair Days

Not a fan of flat hair? John Frieda Luxurious Volume 7 Day Volume is an in-shower treatment that easily builds more volume into your hair. I’ve been appling this once a week after shampooing and conditioning and my normally flat hair definitely looks and feels more full. The first day you might feel a hint of product in your hair after blow drying, but it disappears after the next shampoo leaving you with soft, clean-feeling fuller hair. And yes, that volume really does last for seven days, just as the name promises. $15.99, at London Drugs and other major retailers.

2. Get Primed

Whether you’re heading off on a sunny honeymoon or simply applying a sunless tanning product, you’ll want an even all-over glow. Without adding any colour of its own, Jergens Natural Glow Colour Primer is an in-shower scrub that gently exfoliates, priming your skin for even, streak-free colour. I find it leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth all over, though tough spots like my feet need a little extra scrubbing. The fresh summery scent helps wake me up in the shower too! $12.99, at London Drugs and other major retailers.

3. Skin Deep

The idea of using charcoal on your face might make you think twice, but charcoal is actually known as a natural magnet for dirt and oil. If you’re already a fan of Bioré’s ever-popular pore strips, you’ll definitely want to try their new charcoal strips. Bioré Deep Cleansing Charcoal Pore Strips remove buildup from your pores just like the original strips, with the bonus of also soaking up excess oil. So long, shiny nose! $9.99, at London Drugs and other major retailers.

4. Hope Springs Eternal

Launched some 10 years ago, Philosophy’s Hope in a Jar has become an iconic go-to skin cream. But the formula has now been reimagined to provide all-day hydration and a healthy glow, plus visibly reduced lines and pores. Our volunteer has been testing it out as a day and night cream. She’s given Philosophy Renewed Hope in a Jar the thumbs-up for improving the texture and suppleness of her skin, but cautions that it can make your skin more photo sensitive – so be sure to layer a good sunscreen over it during the day. $59, at Sephora and other retailers.

5. Super Serum

“Super” is a fitting word for Sephora Wrinkle Fighting Super Serum for face and eyes. I’ve been applying it around my eyes day and night and find it instantly smoothing and soothing. The serum feels light and refreshing with a cooling sensation that I particularly appreciate when my eyes are feeling tired. I haven’t tested it long enough to know if the “wrinkle fighting” claim will hold up long term, but it definitely makes those pesky crow’s feet a little less obvious. Plus, a tiny drop goes a very long way. $45, at Sephora.

6. Lasting Shine

We’re in love with Marc Jacobs Beauty’s luxuriously sleek packaging – but even better is what’s inside each sleek tube of Marc Jacobs Enamored Hi-Shine Lip Lacquer. Available in several shades from neutral to bright, this ultra-shiny gloss goes on smooth and creamy with a soft minty scent. The colours are sheer and pretty enough to wear on their own or layered over a lip colour. My personal fave is Love Buzz, with its sweet hint of shimmery pink. $34, at Sephora.
