While Vancouver couple Kelly and Ryan Selby had been together for 11 years, seeing each other for the first time on their wedding day felt like magic to both of them. "I was absolutely giddy," says Kelly, "and Ryan couldn't stop grinning from ear to ear." Kelly admits she hadn't been sure about taking photos before the ceremony, but now says she wouldn't change a thing about their big day. The wedding party gathered at Pacific Spirit National Park for a series of photos in the forest, then at nearby Jericho Beach. The outdoor ceremony in bright sunshine was held in the garden in front of the Stanley Park Pavilion. Kelly remembers her father stepping on her wide tulle skirt halfway down the grassy aisle (and the chuckles that erupted) and the surreal moment of exchanging vows with Ryan. Although she didn't know it at the time, her ceremony had also been witnessed by dozens of tourists nearby in the park! Cocktail hour and a buffet dinner reception followed, complete with what Kelly calls "Hogwarts-style" dinner tables. The night's lighthearted entertainment included a caricaturist for guests, Ryan & Kelly bingo cards and finger moustaches, as well as a steady routine from Kelly's comedian brother, with the evening capped off by a mix of tame and "not-so-tame" dancing. Ultimately, an entire year of planning went into their wedding day, which was over before they knew it. But if you ask Kelly, she'll tell you it was all worth it.
