Stephanie Co and Jason Dy first met four years ago through mutual friends and instantly hit it off. The two went to the same gym and began working out together, becoming good friends but not even dating until a year later. They became engaged after two years, and finally tied the knot at the Canadian Memorial United Church this past May before celebrating with friends and family at their Sutton Place Hotel reception.
“It was a very happy and meaningful day because we had friends and relatives travelling from all over the world to celebrate with us,” says Stephanie. “It made us feel very special and loved.”
Stephanie says she had always wanted a classy, elegant wedding and she loved how the Sutton Place ballroom turned out. Of course, she can take plenty of credit for the lovely décor. A DIY bride, Stephanie opted for a gold and pink theme to match the hotel ballroom. She also created their wedding logo, wedding program, welcome signs and sweet wedding favours (pink chocolate-covered Oreos).
As Stephanie recalls, the whole day went by quickly, but she remembers having a great time with their lively bridal party, who helped her and Jason feel relaxed throughout the day. The couple also lucked out with perfect weather, given that it rained both the day before and the day after their wedding.
“Planning a wedding is a lot of work,” says Stephanie, “but we are more than happy with how everything turned out and will cherish the memories forever.”
