For Burnaby’s Amie So and Matthew Tan, the goal of their wedding was for everyone to enjoy the day as much as the two of them did. “Because when our friends and family are having fun and happy, we’re happy,” says the couple. Both hailing from large families, Amie and Matthew had a lot of people to keep happy, including 100 relatives in attendance. The two paid attention to all the details, always keeping their guests top of mind — from giving corsages and boutonnieres to all their uncles, aunts and helpers, to honouring Matthew’s late mother and those guests affected by cancer through donations to two cancer charities. Despite a stormy start to the day, the lucky couple saw the rain let up just before their traditional ceremony at Vancouver’s Ebenezer Baptist Church. Their colourful reception followed at Kirin Seafood Restaurant, where they had arranged for a caricature artist, photobooth and chocolate fondue to keep guests entertained. “We had the highlight day of our lives and we got to share that with our friends and family,” say Amie and Matt. “What more can you ask for?”
