A message from a lion told Zoanne—a Leo— “the true love of your life is closer than you would imagine.” She had been trying on winter coats at a store across from her office and found the note in one of the pockets. As fate would have it, Zoanne met Shane through work a short time later.

Shane proposed the evening Zoanne went into labour with their first-born son. Earlier she chided, “I better have a ring on it before that baby comes,” but only in jest. The couple had designed the ring at The Goldsmiths in Calgary so the proposal was expected, just not the birth of their son, who was a week early.

As ski and snowboard enthusiasts, Zoanne and Shane found Big White to be the perfect spot for snow, accessibility and charm so that their guests could come, stay and enjoy the weekend full of activities. They rented luxury suite Crescendo and surrounded themselves with friends and family gearing up to the big day.

The property overlooks the Monashee Mountains and with the sun shining brightly on fresh snow, Zoanne and Shane shared a romantic first look, and later took a horse-drawn sleigh ride (is there a better way to travel in a winter wonderland?) to the edge of the forest for some stunning winter photographs.

At twilight, the couple said their “I do’s” at Happy Valley Day Lodge followed by a private reception at Kettle Valley Steakhouse. As if the day was not magical enough, Zoanne and Shane took to the ice on the Olympic-sized outdoor skating rink by the lodge to capture their romance on camera—and try not to fall on their butts.

With stars in their eyes and up above, the couple and their guests ended the night watching fireworks on the horizon. The perfect finale to a magical day!
